It’s official: press passes for bloggers in Lithuania

Yesterday I was accredited by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and received the first offical press pass issued to blogger in Lithuania (still looking for colleagues throughout Europe, whereas US has FishbowlDC and his press pass fight story with the White House in 2005).

The Law on the Provision of Information to the Public states:

Article 35. Accrediting
1. The public information producer shall have the right, according to an agreement between the parties, to accredit his own journalists with state institutions, political parties, political and public organisations and also, other institutions.<...>

It’s kind of side-story in my two-years-long case against the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, which I’ve recently won in the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania (full story in Lithuanian and link to the official court decision).
